Real World Real Mess

How does reality television relate to and affect people who watch it?  What makes reality television shows so popular?  What is the largest archetype that you see being used in reality television shows?

Somedays I'm to tired to argue what show me and my girlfriend watch. When i do loose I get this....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXCet3ekQ0E
She could literally LIVE of New Jersey Housewives, I'm serious... she doesnt need food or water, maybe its a jersey thing I dont know. All I know is this is sopost to be Reality Television, but all I see is the farthest thing from reality. No body really does that, do they? This women is a actor to me, and i feel that all reality shows have taken a sharp turn to get this. Its all about ratings and teenage girls eat this drama up. I mean look how hypnotized my girlfriend is she loves this "Gabage." People take this as real and think these people really act like this or would be like this not infront of a camera? One of the girls in the video says "i've neva seen her do anything like this" well da!!! she isnt like this unless she is infront of a camera.
So what do we have now? We have hypnotized teenage girls thinking this is reality, placing themselves into a negitive archeotype. These girls are going to idolize this Teresa girl and start flipping over ever dinner table everytime thier dad says "You have to be home by 9 tonight sweety". Though this last sentence might be a little over exaggerated, people need to understand that this is far away from reality.
I feel like some reality television shows try to a do a non drama format like "Undercover Boss", but  the majority of reality tv shows are all about drama.

  1. I'm confused. You say above that teenage girls have been "hypnotized" into "placing themselves into a negative archetype," but just a couple of blogs ago, you said that girls who behave as "sluts" who deserved bad treatment. How is this different than that?
