Masculinity Video

Reflect on what we've discussed in class and what you've heard in the video and in the reading about violence in our media, particularly as it relates to masculinity.  Is the relationship between violence & masculinity something to be concerned about?

Men are force fed violence at a early age, i dont feel like it has a negitive effect though. I like seeing super jacked people beating up people. I like the ultimate goal of being the best, but I mean without a goal there is no effort. But it doesnt have to be with violence i dont know why people need to die over the masculinity of man. I think the male ego is in a big need of a reality check but i feel the people that take it to far are just extremist

  1. If the male ego needs a reality check, does that include yourself, as well?

  2. What is it that you are trying to say when you think people take "it" to far? please elaborate for me. do you mean that teaching men that being a man means to go around all muscle like and show that they are the toughest is an overwhelming exageration constantly forced on young boys by the media?

  3. I enjoy watching the human body get pushed to its limits, because the more you keep pushing the more you relize there is no limits. As the main testosterone producing gender i feel like it is up to man to keep pushing these goals. We are naturally competitive, but we dont need to kill over it. I'm not saying this is the proving grounds for manhood, im just saying that it is nice to see some competition drive man to better himself
